Ged Day is founder and CEO of People’s Music Store, a music download service which combines the forces of social discovery, e-commerce and viral marketing, enabling music fans to create and promote their own personal music store. Launched in February this year, the service currently has a licensed catalogue of over 600,000 tracks from labels including Universal, Beggars, Domino, Warp and Ninja Tune.
Starting out as a DJ in 1987, Ged has enjoyed a long and varied career within the music industry, always striving to combine his love of music and technology. Prior to People’s Music Store, Ged spent 7 years working at Warp Records, where he was originally drafted in to develop a music royalty application. During his tenure at Warp, Ged was responsible for the redevelopment of their multi-award winning company web site, was instrumental in the creation of their film division, Warp Films and in 2004, Ged founded the pioneering Bleep.com - the world’s first DRM free digital music service and winner of the BT Digital Music Awards ‘Best Music Store’ (2006).
Ged continues to record and (occasionally) DJ as The Deadbeats.
