Ben Bleet

Ben has a well rounded knowledge of the music industry. He has worked in music distribution at RTM and Vital, at one of Europe’s first legal download sites, Icrunch.com, with Slice PR and EMI Records.
As specialist account manager at EMI Ben provided the connection between the retail tastemakers and the record labels in the group including: EMI Records, Parlophone, Virgin, Regal, DFA, Positiva, Heavenly and Blue Note.

He advised on release launch and support strategies working with A&R and marketing departments.  Acts included Kylie, Gorillaz, LCD Sound System, Room 5, Robbie Williams, Dirty Vegas and Shapeshifters. During his work as A&R Manager for EMI/Positiva he was responsible for signing Axwell and Soul Avengerz.
Ben founded Howling Monkey in 2007 to help clients excite and inspire with music.  This is achieved through a range of services to allow them to develop and maintain a strong presence through music and culture. These services include branded content, music sourcing, music licensing and social media.
Saatchi and Saatchi retained Howling Monkey in 2007 as In-House Music Consultant. During that time they worked campaigns for brands including Comet, General Mills, Guinness, NSPCC, Proctor and Gamble, Sony Ericsson, T-Mobile, Toyota and Visa.
More recently they sourced and licensed the music for T-Mobile’s ‘Dance’ Campaign, this was the first time eight pieces of music were used in the same ad. It was also the first time such a medley was released in conjunction with a campaign. The film currently has over 13 million hits on You Tube and counting.
Howling Monkey now works with a range of creative agencies helping them source and promote content for their clients. When not enjoying music and technology, Ben can be found on his mountain bike and taking photos, though not at the same time.
