Frank Boyd has been one UK’s new media pioneers since establishing the Arts Technology Centre in 1989.
He was a founder of the European Multimedia Labs, the Digital Media Alliance and BAFTA¹s Interactive Entertainment Awards before joining the BBC Innovation and Learning as Director of Creative Development. At the BBC Frank directed development labs for interactive television, broadband and cross-platform production.
Recently he has worked with London Development Agency on policy and programmes to support the audio-visual sector and creative industries. Projects he was instrumental in launching included PACT’s Rights Lab and the London Games Festival
He established Unexpected Media in 2002 to support innovation and creative research in future media. The company designs events, seminars and labs for a clients in the public and private sectors. Recent projects include The BBC Innovation Labs for the BBC, the international Crossover programme including a series of labs for commissioning editors at Channel 4.
